Hi, I'm new here so please forgive me if this has been covered before.
How can I transfer (download) my photos AND delete them from my SD card at the same time? I really want to MOVE not COPY. I really don't like the card filling up all the time.
I have a T6i and downloaded the newest version of the EOS software.
I used to use a different software (kodak) to transfer my photos where this was an option, is there a way to do this with the EOS software? Any help would be very much appreciated.

Is there a way to do that? Negative, not that I am aware of. I would venture that having an auto-delete feature is far less desireable than not having it. Auto-delete could easily lead to undesireable accidents. I know that I wouldn't want it. I would disable it, if it were available.
Forcing the camera user to go into the camera menus, and manually deleting files was probably an intentional design strategy. I believe some third party software packages just may allow for moving and/or deleting files, though.

I understand that some may not want it but it would be nice to have in certain circumstances depending on your personal methods of dealing with images.
If that is what you wish, then i suggest doing it the old-fashioned way, so to speak. Remove the card from the camera, and use a card reader. You can either MOVE or COPY files, however you wish.
You must remove the card from the camera. The device drivers that can read the memory card when it sits in the camera do not allow external software to WRITE to the memory card, or modify its' contents, not in any way. Deleting a file when the card is still in the camera would require a minor modification to the data stored on the card.

If you have a Mac, downloading to Photos or iPhoto will give you that option, but I don't recommend it. You should *ALWAYS* make sure the photos have been transferred correctly before you delete from the card.

Exactly. That is precisely why it is so undesireable to copy and delete the files in one step.

I don't disagree with you guys, i suppose it's just something I'd been used to (maybe a bad habit). I haven't lost any in thousands of photos but I suppose it may have beent just a matter of time.
My previous software used to make sure all the photos were transferred before deleting from the source, if that's what you wanted to do.
I guess I'll have to get used to a new way of doing things

I use photoshop CS6 and when I download the files, it gives me the option to delete the files. You have to confirm deletion, though...before it will delete for you.
It's better to work into your workflow to format the card in the camera before each session...granted I haven't done this too much myself...

Forgive me, but what you want to do is an almost unbelievably bad idea. No digital medium is absolutely reliable, and any process involving human interaction is subject to user error. When you copy your image files to a computer, the last thing you should want is for them to simultaneously disappear from the card. Indeed, you shouldn't delete them from the card until they have been through at least one backup cycle (you do backups, don't you?) AFTER you've copied them to the computer. Even quite large SD cards have become very affordable. If your pictures aren't worth even the most elementary cautions, you should probably look for another pastime.
You are, of course, free to ignore this advice. But please don't come whimpering to us after you've lost the contents of an "irreplaceable" photo shoot.

As I thought I explained, wuth the software I was used to using I could transfer, compare, confirm, then delete in a single step or instruction from me.
I am well aware of what can happen to an image, or any other digital code during any kind of transfer.
It was a simple question and while it seems to be the general concensis that it's not the best idea, I think your comments are a bit over the top.
Warning someone of the dangers is one thing, admonishing them for not doing it the way you do is just petty.
Thanks to all those that took the time to reply.
