Hi Folks
My 2yr old EOS90D has suddenly started turning itself off. Only way to restart was to remove the battery and switch back on. Its happened 3 times today. Really annoying as I'm on day 2 of a two week holiday in the Outer Hebrides (Stornoway).
Other thing I noticed was that the lens (70-300mm nano usm) screen was still live.
Any ideas for a quick fix would be most welcome

Ramsden,
I'm sorry. I don't know what a "lens screen" is. Lenses don't have screens.
Check your Auto Power Off setting. On my camera, it is in the wrench menu, Page# 2. Try setting it to a higher number like 15 minutes or 30 minutes.
Also, does this happen with any other lens? It may be some faulty connection between your lens and your camera.
At the very least, try cleaning the contacts on your lens and your camera.
Are you getting any kind of overheating warning or icon?

Thanks Steve,
I'll try that straight away and I did wonder about the lens. Its getting dark and wet at the moment but I'll be out tomorrow. Plus I havent used the 70-300 lens for a few weeks so lots to check out.

Ramsden,
If it is simply a matter of the Auto Power Off kicking in, on my camera, you can bring the camera back to life by hitting the Disp button.

The "lens screen" Ramsden speaks of is the LCD display that this lens has as a focusing scale.

Greetings @Ramsden,
Start here. Perform a factory reset, both main and custom settings. Then retest. While testing, just enter the date and time nothing more.
The behavior to describe sounds more like a camera setting, over a hardware or battery issue. Though anything is possible. Hopefully you have a second battery for the camera, please test with it also.
Please report your findings.

I have changed the battery and will do the reset this evening. Currently testing out but the weather is awful.

Hi
I've done the reset and all is good. It was a quick and simple process and nothing flagged up. Its 6pm here now so wont be out again today. Will report back tomorrow after a full day out.
Thanks
