EOS Rebel T7 won't go into certain modes

I have an EOS 7t that is about 3 years old.  I'm relatively new to photography and I'm puzzled that just recently I have not been able to put my camera into Manual or Program in the creative mode.  It also won't go into the Portrait and Mountain in the basic zone.

I've cleared the settings and still can't get to these modes.  Am I missing something or is this camera broken?

Really appreciate your help.

It sounds like your EOS 7T’s mode dial may be locked or malfunctioning, or the camera is stuck in a special shooting mode. First, check if the dial lock switch (if present) is engaged and disengage it. If that’s not the issue, try removing the battery and memory card, wait a few minutes, then restart. If the problem persists after a full reset, it could indicate a hardware issue with the mode dial or internal electronics, and the camera may need service.

What do you mean by "it won't go into...."?  Does the Mode dial turn through all the choices? Does it not click into some choices? What happens when set on P or M? Or the basic modes?

Thank you for your quick response.  I can't find a dial lock so did all the steps you suggested but had no luck.  I think I am going to need to go for service...unfortunately.

I can turn the Mode dial but it does not click into some of the options....manual and program modes do not work or display when the dial is on those settings.  Same with the automatic setting, portrait, landscape and food.  It's a mystery.

Sounds like the dial is defective. Do you have a Canon warranty? Send it in. Or find an independent service.

Thanks - out of warranty 😞

Out of warranty might mean it's cheaper to buy another camera; used T7? Most items now are disposable. Had a P&S that wouldn't focus. Camera shop quoted $100 to fix; whole camera outfit cost $85.
