EOS Rebel T3i not being able to format my sd card

When I tried to format the card I got the error "Cannot format. Change card." But I just bought this card, so I don't know why it wouldn't work.

Many, if not all, SD cards have a lock switch on them to make t hem read only.  Any chance that is in the read only position.

I just looked and they aren't locked.

Is it a full size, name brand card? You may have a counterfeit.

micro cards in adapters often don't work.

It's a SanDisk sdxc card. Also sorry, accidentally marked this as the solution!

Have you tried both a card reader connected to a computer and through the camera.

Is it full size or micro with adapter?

It could just be a bad card.

They might just need to get a jump start on a computer with a card reader. Hope it works!
