Hi. My beloved camera suddenly began throwing an HD read error. I went and bought a new card. Same error. The camera is now a very expensive paperweight as i cannot resolve the error and know that the HD cards cannot all actually have a problem. What could be wrong with my beloved camera? Can I try anything to fix it? I have had it for some years, but do not hold with the idea of planned obsolescence, not given the cost of this item nor the comparable lifespan that film camera gave us. What can I do? Thanks for any suggestions....

(It is SD card, not HD) Are these full size cards or micro cards with adapters?

Abby,
Two things you might try:
1) Does your camera have a menu settings that says, "Release shutter without card"? Enable that setting. Does it take a picture and store it on the card anyway?
2) When I shoot tethered, my software temporarily stores a copy of my picture on my laptop, which I can download to my laptop or phone. You might see if that works.
