Hello there. I recently updated the firmware for the R7 thinking it will fix the horrible focusing issues I have but it did not.
From talking with other people this seems to be a common issue and not a defect on my camera. Mainly use it with a sigma 150-600mm. The work around I found for even getting 50% of sharp images is too much work, and does not work if there is fast action happening. Low light makes it so much worst.
What other options do I have for crop sensor bodies? I do a lot of birds on flight.

Current R-series crop cameras are the 24MP EOS R50, 24MP EOS R10 and 32MP EOS R7. I'm ignoring the EOS R100 as it lacks the sophisticated AF of the other R-series models.
Is the "common issue" you have talked about always the combination of the EOS R7 and Sigma 150-600mm? Have you tried or can you try using a Canon RF 100-500mm lens, to rule out the problem being a compatibility issue with the Sigma 150-600mm?

I do not have other similar lense to test myself, so if it is a lense compatibility, why it has not been addressed do far? I know others have focus issues with other models of sigma but even the canon lense act slow on it.

Have you also updated the firmware of the Sigma? I had issues with my Sigma lenses until I updated the lens firmware, once that was done I had zero issues. You can purchase the Sigma dock and load the software to drive it locally on your PC and you can find the docks for $18 (used) to about $45 {new}.

Welcome!!!
Many users are pretty inexperienced photographers or have numerous bad habits and misconceptions, including many who have been “using cameras for years.”
When I shot with the Sigma 150-600 C, it gave me better results with OS turned off. I also had better results on my full frame bodies compared to my 7D2.
I had similar results with my son’s 7D2 and his 80D. That is not to say I had bad results with crop sensors. I’ve had great results with it. I just had a higher keeper rate with full frame bodies.
I had the best results in bright sunshine and shutter speeds at least 1/1600.

I had cero issues on my 7D, but it finally broke.
