EOS R6 Constantly Freezes

GoUSNR

I bought a brand-new EOS R6 in September 2021, three years later it started freezing constantly. I've read every single post I can find and tried every single suggestion (firmware, battery, memory card).

I'm not using a battery grip (but have in the past). I have tried turning off the wi-fi. still no joy.

The ONLY thing that clears the freeze is to take the battery out. But then the very next photo it freezes again.

I can't believe I spent nearly $3000 on a camera and can't use it. I'm very disappointed in Canon.

Is that a Full Sized card or a Micro SD Card in an adapter. Avoid using Micro SD Cards in an adapter use Full Sized SD Cards. If the camera was designed for them they would take them directly without an adapter. Have you tried using a different SD Card to rule out the current one.

Also, have you low level formatted it in the camera lately.

With a lot of use without formatting they can become fragmented.

Yes very true I always format my cards in the device its intended to be used in. New cards get the low level format in the camera.

Again, the devil is in the details.

I use SanDisk full size, UHS-II, 128 GB memory cards.  I purchase them from a reputable camera gear vendor, never from Amazon.

I always low level format the card using the camera prior to first use.  I never share the card with other devices, except to use a card reader to copy the files to my computer.

I never use the computer to write to the memory card, nor use it to erase the files.  I erase the files on the card by reformatting the card using the camera.
