Did you mean:

EOS R50 external monitor for video

Is it possible to use an external monitor to view live video recording on the EOS R50. I can play back images and see the menu options on the external monitor but as soon as I start recording the HDMI output is lost.

Thanks

David,

One way to do that would be to tether your camera to a smartphone or tablet, and using a piece of software like Canon Camera Connect (or EOS Utility in case of a computer) to operate the camera.

IIn those cases, you use your USB port.

If you want to use HDMI, I think you have to send your video to an HDMI capture card.

Read what your manual says about clean HDMI output.

Thanks Steve, I just wanted to use the external monitor whilst filming as it’s a bigger screen. I guess it’s not possible on the R50 using the hdmi output.

David,

I have a T8i Here is what my manual says about HDMI output:

I personally, from time to time, take movies using a 10" tablet that is tethered to my camera either wired directly with USB cables, or over wi-fi with the Camera Connect and Control app software.

The CCC app is a paid app.

It works pretty well.
