EOS R5 [ * ] Button Functionality

Robtwmag47

I like to do wildlife photography and am trying to set up the * button on the back of the camera.  I would like to know if there is a way to have it so that when I press the* button it goes to the 9 point expanded AF area setting and will lock on a subject and follow it on the screen. Like the eye detect and tracking does. I am using back button focus. I have the * set up now to go to the 9 point expanded AF area but it will not track.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hi there,

Looking into the custom button functions unfortunately it doesn't look like both functions can be assigned concurrently. Pages 831-836 list all of the possible button assignments for each customizable button on the camera.

Thank you for looking into this for me.  I really appreciate you taking the time.  I had tried everything that I thought might work, but ran out of settings to try. Have a great day,
