EOS R5 Busy

I was taking a few shots of items on my desk when, all of a sudden, I see Busy in the view finder. After a few more presses of the shutter I still see Busy. I'm like, "What happened?" I turned the unit off, waited a moment and turned it back on. Still busy. I turn it off. So, I do a search on the web and it's mentioned that there might be a problem with the media card. So, I remove the SD card, turn on the camera and try again. Busy. Turn off the camera. I replace the SD card and remove the CF Express card. Turn on the camera. Busy. So, now I'm panicking. Both cards are 512GB. That's way beyond more than enough space. I turn off the camera and remove the media cards to unload the files from both cards to my computer. Then I format the cards in the camera. Take a shot. BUSY. This is a new camera! Never mistreated. I turn it off. I remove the RF 24-70mm f2.8 lens. Then, I decide to put on the RF 16mm. Turn it on. Busy. Now I'm frustrated. Looking on the web for additional troubleshooting ideas. About a minute later I turn on the camera. I take a picture. I take another picture and another and another. So, what happened? Thanks for your help.

The EOS R5 firmware version is 1.7.0

As a test can you use a smaller memory. If you recently bought it I would exchange it for a different camera.

Happy holidays Demetrius. I just ordered Lexar 256GB UF Express B and Lexar 256GB UHS-II V90-II SDXC card. I'll try those. Thanks for your help. David

I recommend using multiple smaller cards instead of 1 large memory. If the card fails you lost all of your client's pictures. I would test the camera with 32 GB cards to see if the problem goes away.

Okay. I can do that. Thanks.

I would also use BOTH card slots and set the camera to record to both cards simultaneously. Incase if one of your cards fail you have a backup copy available.

I purchased the R5 November 18, 2022. I exchanged it because I wasn't the first recipient of that camera. I returned it to BH Photo November 21. So, it's not new new. I've been using it since November 21. If I have this problem again with the new media cards, I'll have to bring it ti am authorized Canon repair center.
