Hi , I am having difficulty connecting my EOS R100 to my pc , both by wireless and cable, one problem is my camera is showing a TP link that is not mine so when I do try to put a password in for my own TP link it will not accept it , now when I try to delete the TP link on my camera the Edit/delete device option is shaded and therefor not an option open to me , anyone any idea where I'm going wrong ?

Hi Michael12,

I'm sorry to hear you're having issues connecting your EOS R100 and your computer. For the wifi connection you shouldn't need to select your home TP link to set up the connection. To start fresh we would recommend clearing the wifi settings on the camera. To do that press the Menu button, go to the second page of the network tab, select Reset Communication Settings, and choose Okay. That will reset all of the network settings back to factory default.

Once you've cleared the wifi settings on the camera try using the step by step instructions for a wifi connection to a computer on pages 473-479 of the camera manual. If you need a copy of the current manual it is available HERE. Once you are on the web page click on the Manuals tab and the one to reference is named EOS R100 Advanced User Guide.

For the cable connection first make sure the current version of the EOS Utility is installed on your computer. If you need that software it is available on the same page I linked above. To see it click on the Software & Drivers tab and the current version is EOS Utility 3.19.0. Once that software is installed open it and you will see a black window with camera and computer icons in it. When you see that window connect the camera and computer with a USB cable and once the EOS Utility detects your camera it will automatically refresh to give you the import options.

Greetings,

One last point.  If you are using a cable, disable the Wi-Fi feature on the camera.  If you are using WiFi, do not connect the cable at the same time.  Only one or the other can be used at a time.

Hey! Sounds like the EOS R100 is stuck on a saved network. Try this:

On your camera, go to Menu > Wireless communication settings.

Look for Wi-Fi settings > Reset settings and select it, this should clear all saved networks, including that TP-Link one.

After the reset, restart the camera and try connecting to your own Wi-Fi again with the correct password.

If that doesn't work, you can also try connecting via USB and using Canon's EOS Utility software on your PC to establish the connection.

Hope that helps!
