If you are the original owner, and if your EOS R is less than one-year old it can be serviced under the U.S.A Warranty in the United States only. The U.S. and Canada Warranty explicitly states: "...your EOS Digital Camera is repaired by a Canon U.S.A. or a Canon Canada authorized EOS Digital Camera service center." US warranteed products do not include an International Warranty, so will not receive free service outside of North America.
It's very unlikely that Canon Malaysia would provide free service for a camera that was not imported under their marketing agreement with Canon International, but of course, you can always contact them and ask. Otherwise, shipping it back to a authorized US based service facility is probably your best option.
