Hi! When i use my R body, with Canon RF-EF basic adapter, on my Canon 17-35L as well as my Sigma 28-70 l, when both lens are on their widest focal length, whilst auto focusing to infinity, the focus jiggles ( the lens it self seems to jiggle when trying to focus at infinity)
this only happens on these two lens, no issues with my 50, 85, 70-200
it doesn’t appear to affect image quality. And it on happens at 17mm on the Canon lens and 28 on the sigma.
Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Note older EF lenses such as the EF 17-35mm F/2.8L USM don't support Dual Pixel Autofocus. Only USM lenses released from 2009-present support this. Can you please post the full model names of the lenses that work CORRECTLY. Also only certain EF lenses are fully compatible with 12 fps or more. Can you please also post a video showing this problem. Please post the full model name of the Sigma lens in question. As for your Sigma lens it may be a compatibility problem that Sigma has to fix NOT Canon.

Greetings,
I was composing but had to step away when Demetrius replied. I was thinking much the same thing.
I've heard of this phenomenon referred to as "jello". Its a side affect of ibis at WA focal lengths. Typically something people see in video.
Are you seeing the jiggle in photo mode or video?
Your R does not have ibis, so this is likely an unwanted side affect of the lenses age and possibly the 1st generation EVF.

I should've confirmed which EOS R series camera they were using. The OP said "Hi! When i use my R body, with Canon RF-EF basic adapter,". I take that as any EOS R series camera not specifically the EOS R.

Demetrius,
I probably should have confirmed too. 🤣 I assumed R since his lenses are older.
@RallPhotography, please confirm.
Jiggle is typically in video, not still photography.
***Edit, his other post states Canon R, so its probably 1st gen. 😀

Thanks for the replies!
it is a first gen Canon “R” (no numbers). Disabling the dual pixel af helped a lot!
Someone asked about the full lens details,
the canon 17-40 f4 L(recent build, oldddd design)
the sigma is 24-70 f2.8 DG A

Your first post says 17-35mm lens. So do you have the 17-35mm or the 17-40mm lens. Also what are your other lenses Canon or 3rd party. State the full names of the 50mm prime, 85mm prime & 70-200mm zoom lenses.

Its only happening on the 2 shorter FL's so identifying the other lenses really doesn't matter.
Both lenses are manufactured early and mid 90's. There is no IS, so its the EVF and age of the lenses.

I noticed that the OP said "Disabling the dual pixel af helped a lot!" That's why asked about the other lenses. They maybe new enough to have the hardware to support Dual Pixel Autofocus. I've tested out old EF lenses on both the R & RP and never seen this before.
