EOS M50 Mark II - flash stopped working

carolynnickels

I purchased this camera a few years ago.  LOVE it! At the end of the summer, the camera flash stopped working. I tested it with an individual mounted flash. That worked fine.

I need help to trouble shoot to get the camera flash working again. I did not see anything in the online manuals.

Thank you, Carolyn

Is the camera flash set to AUTO or ON if set to AUTO and the camera thinks flash isn't needed the built in flash won't fire. The external speedlite will always fire regardless of the camera setting. Unless flash firing is set to DISABLE then neither flash will fire.

Does “not working” mean that it doesn’t raise up or that it raises but doesn’t fire?

Hello, I have it set to auto. The flash does not pop up. I moved around to see if lighting would make it pop up but it didn't help.

on my menu, Flash was set auto (left box) on this screen. I changed it as shown below. (right box).  The bottom picture shows my camera setting.

Does the flash fire now since it’s set to on now? Or does it still not work. What external flash are you using?

No, it doesn't fire at all. Thanks for your help in figuring this out. I super appreciate it.
