Hi Roddy,

that camera has an EF-S lens mount, and so will take any EF or EF-S lens; no adapter is needed.  See your camera's specs here: https://www.canon.co.uk/cameras/eos-4000d/specifications/

Note that the camera has an APS-C ("crop") sensor, so EF-S lenses will work fine; EF lenses may be bigger than you need, but will also work fine.  If you buy EF lenses (as opposed to EF-S), and later upgrade to a full-frame camera, those EF lenses will transfer across no problem.  EF-S lenses will not.

The EOS 4000d will not take any RF, RF-S, or EF-M lens, with or without an adapter.

If you want to know more about lens compatiblilty, I wrote a guide to that: https://moonblink.info/MudLake/gear/lenses

Hello,
Yes, both the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM and the Canon EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM lenses are compatible with the Canon EOS 4000D.

Best Regards,
James
