EOS 2000 Rebel/Rebel T7 - Camera shuts off in auto mode

Hi everyone - recently having an issue when im shooting in auto mode the camera shuts off despite having new batteries. In auto, ill focus and it makes a whirring sound and some clicks and then shows empty battery and shuts off. Shoots fine in P mode. Have a canon EF 50mm lens on.

What Canon EF 50mm lens they have released 3 F/1.8 versions 1 F/1.4 version 1 F/1.2 version and 1 very rare F/1.0 version. Will the camera work with a lens removed or does it still have problems. Please give us the full name of the lens in question "Canon EF 50mm" is not enough information.
