HI,
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated, I recently purchased a "mint - all working" Canon EOS-1n from Japan. It came with the infamous "BC" error. Besides the BC error the camera workes perfectly, autofocus and controls all fine. I managed to get the mirrot unstuck, a magnet did not work but with a tootchpick in 10oclock hole a sticky mechanism came loose ande the shutter and mirror started working! A partial succes because since then the camera does not recognize an EF lens and i have lost all autofocus and aperture controls.
Thank you for input

Hello!
You were able to fix your Canon EOS-1N's BC error by manually unsticking the mirror, but the camera now can't recognize lenses or use autofocus. This likely means the electronic lens contacts were damaged during the process. To fix this, first, try gently cleaning the contacts on both the camera body and the lens with a microfiber cloth and isopropyl alcohol. If this doesn't work, the internal electronics may have been damaged, and the camera will need to be taken to a professional camera repair shop.

Greetings,
I googled the error and received the following information.
Issue is likely related to the shutter mechanism.
Suggestions included checking the health and performance of the battery, cleaning the battery contact terminals and in some cases, partial disassembly of the camera to check for dried lubricant on the internals and inspection of the magnets that operate the shutter mechanism.
I don't typically recommend buying a camera that is broken. Servicing something this old can be extremely challenging and in many cases parts (if needed) may or may not be available. I hope that you can figure it out.

Hi Shadow sports, thank you for the input. But to clarify, i purchased the camera as "mint condition" but when i recieved it it had the unexpected "BC" error. I would also never buy a camera that comes with an advertised fault 🙂
It mostly puzzles me that first I had AF and aperture control, but no shutter and mirror action, now I have shutter and mirror action but no AF and aperture control.
