Connect Canon Rebel Ti 2 to HP Laptop for video

i need to connect the Canon Rebel Ti 2 to the HP laptop - to stream the video BUT there's only the HDMI and USB.

Will I be able to use the HDMI or do I have to use the USB and will I need special software or ADAPTOR cables?

Can I use just any adaptor cable or do I need a special cable from Canon?

We start streaming next Friday - so Any Help Would Be Appreciated.

The EOS Rebel T2i was only designed to be directly connected to a laptop via USB.  The connector on the side of the camera is common, so no specific special cable is needed.  USB cables that will work can be found almost everywhere.

It sounds to me like what you are trying to do is capture a live signal from the camera, not transfer existing video from the camera. 

1. Is this the case?
2. Is that video stream being broadcast somewhere or are you capturing it, then editing it?
