EOS R6 Mark II compatibility with Sigma 24-70mm 2.8 EX DG

Okay so I've heard some scary stories about photogs who've used an older 24-70mm lens and their R6/R6mii has just 'died' on them (black screen and not turning on at all). I have the opportunity to buy a used Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG lens (I shoot on a R6 Mii and mainly use my prime 35 & 85 but want to give this zoom a try). My question is is it safe to pop on my R6 with an adaptor? Will it not work because it's an old lens? Is it worth the purchase?

3rd Party lenses who knows if it will work adapted. Only Canon can ensure compatibility with their own stuff. So who knows how well it work. Just look into the RF 24-70mm and avoid the adapters. If you have to adapt lenses stick with the Canon brand adapter.

If the lens is not compatible with the Sigma Dock, then it is an older model.  Pass.

As noted above, many third party lenses designed for DSLRs are not fully compatible with the advanced AF features.   In particular, the older lenses cannot keep with the high frame rates.  This includes many older Canon lenses.

Greetings,

I agree with my colleagues.  Ultimately, I'd skip it.
