Having up-reved the firmware on my R1 to Ver 1.1.2, I have just noticed that my camera does not augment IBIS with Lens stabilisation on my major EF lenses. All my L lenses with IS cause the menu to grey out for camera body IBIS option. It states "Restricted by "Current attached lens" ". My lenses without stabilisation, 24-70 F2.8 L Mk II and, Sigma DG 24-70 F2.8, all work the R1 camera body IBIS. Furthermore, this issue does not occur for any instance with my R7 camera, all lenses activate IBIS.
Lenses affected are 70-200 F2.8 Mk II, 100 F2.8 macro Mk II, 400 DO F4.0 Mk I, and 600 F4.0 Mk III. I'm looking for means to re-instate previous firmware. Canon and other forums state this should not occur.
Anyone else having this issue?
Or. is this an intended bi-product for the firmware update. I wasn't aware of it for previous versions of Firmware.

If you use a lens with IS the only way to (dis)able IS/IBIS is with the physical button on the lens. If using a lens without IS you can use the menu of your camera to (dis)able IBIS. Nothing to to with latest firmware, always been that way.

If a lens has an IS switch on it, then it controls both in-lens (optical) stabilisation and the operation of the IBIS unit. So when you use a lens with an IS switch the menu is greyed out. There is no way to use IBIS if the lens IS switch is off.

Many thanks for taking the time to respond. Your statement seems logical to me regarding my R1. I accept it as a solution. However, the IBIS in the Menu is still greyed out, whether I have the lens stabilisation On or Off.
The same issue does not occur with my R7, the IBIS selection in the menu is still functional!!
One of lifes great mysteries!!

Many thanks for replying. I accept it is regarded as the norm for IBIS menu to grey out!
As I have responded elsewhere, the item is greyed out regardless of the lens switch being On or Off. Am I just interpreting it incorrectly?
The same issue does not occur when I attach my lenses to my R7!!
One day, maybe one day, life will find a way!
Cameras are just too complicated these days.

It should be grey if the lens has an IS switch. It doesn’t matter the position of the switch on or off. Only when you use a lens without an IS switch will the menu not be grey.

As stated above it's always greyed out if a lens with IS switch is mounted. This is Canon's way of saying this function is not available in this configuration(ie with lens with IS switch). Even if not grey it would do nothing and would only lead to confusion, the menu option can not move the switch on the lens so you could have on in the menu and off on the lens!
I don't know about the R7 but it was this way on my first mirrorless(R5) and is the way on my current R5II and R1.
Did you test with the same lenses on the R7 or with lenses without IS(switch)?
