Canon EOS R5 Mark II Green Color Cast in Dark Areas

Dtamer

I have now my Canon R5 M II since 5 days. I am very satisfied, with the Camera, but i have found something, what i am not sure if this is „normal“ or actually a bug. If look to the Viewfinder and under expose, the blacks looks more greenish, if i check on the display, it looks totally normal, without the green look in de darker areas. Has somebody experienced the same? Maybe Firmeware issue or should i show it to my camera store?

Hi Dtamer,

I'm sorry to hear you are seeing a green hue in darker areas when you look in the viewfinder. I see you mentioned this isn't happening on the rear LCD. If you take a photo or video is the green hue showing in darker areas of those files, or is this only happening in the viewfinder?

If this is only happening in the viewfinder it would be good to double check the Screen/Viewfinder Color Tone and Fine-Tuning Viewfinder Color Tone settings. If those settings got shifted green for the viewfinder it would cause green hues in that display. Information on those settings are on pages 1006 and 1007 of the manual.

If you need a copy of the current manual it is available HERE. Once you are on the web page click on the Manuals button and the one to reference is named EOS R5 Mark II Advanced User Guide.

Hi Hazel

Thank you so much for your reply. It shows only in the Viewfinder. I was also in the meantime at my camera store and they had a demo unit, same color as my camera shows in the Viewfinder. So i have now changed the colors in the Viewfinder and it looks pretty good. I was only not sure, if my Viewfinder is working correctly 😃
