Can't decide...

Currently we own a 40d and have been very happy with it but lets face it, its getting old and we fight over who gets the camera like little kids. All of our lenses are EF not EF-S. Half the year the camera is used in poorly lit gyms shooting fast sports like basketball and wrestling. The other half of the year it is used to shoot wildlife and scenery (yes I'm a teacher that shoots for the yearbook for free then I take advantage of my time off). The high ISOs and and the -3 makes the 6d very appealing but the auto focus makes me a little nervous. The full frame sounds nice but I will have to get used to it and the gps and wifi are not top of the list things for me. Both the 6d and 7d seem to fit my needs better than the 5dmark2 and I can't afford the 5dmark3. The 7d has the better focus and takes the memory cards that I already have. I don't know. Suggestions and advice are openly welcome.

If you're happy with the coverage the 1.6x crop sensor gives you then you should probably stick with that.  You'll not get an AF improvement with any full frame body until you get to the 5D Mark III, which you say is not practical for you. And depending on your lenses you might find yourself wishing for longer focal lengths.

On the other hand, if you'd like wider options for scenics, lower noise and more dynamic range then you might enjoy a 6D or a 5DII.

If AF and speed are most important, I would go with the 7D or wait a little bit and see what the reportedly soon to be announced 70D holds.

Sounds like a 7D is in your future. It is a wonderful camera. There is really nothing to dislike.

EB
EOS 1DX and 1D Mk IV and less lenses then before!

Action shots, EF-S lens, CF cards, I think the 7D is a no brainier.   I absolutely love mine, you can get gorgeous images.  No it's not a low light camera but that's not what I bought it for.   Spend any extra money on fast lens and you will be fine for those poorly lit action shots.

If you are curious and not in a huge rush, you might want to see what the 70D will have spec wise.  It was rumored to be announce this month (March) but that is obviously not going to happen.  But keep in mind, announcements dates and availability dates could be months apart.

Sounds like a second body is going to be welcomed, enjoy and good luck.

When three people in a row agree you know it's probably decent advice.
