Today my camera crashed whilst browsing through my photos, then when I removed the battery to reset it this message appeared on the screen.
'Firmware update program. Update file cannot be found. Please check the memory card and reload the battery and try again'
It now is on the screen permanently if the battery is intact. How do I remove this message and get back into my camera?
I've tried removing memory card, changing to a different memory card, left the battery out for a while. No luck.
Thank you.

What happens if you remove the memory card and then turn the camera on?

It still shows the same message with a memory card removed

Try taking the lens off, remove the memory card, remove the battery, turn the camera on, and press and hold the shutter button down for 15 seconds. Turn the camera off and put the battery back in and turn the camera back on.
If this doesn't work, you could always download the latest firmware file and install using a memory card formatted in the camera. If none of this works, it seems that the camera needs repair.
