CANON EOS 200D II built in flash won't work

Geronique

Hello. I've had this model since 2019 and recently started to use it again. However, whenever I try to use the built in flash (which you have to manually pop up), it doesn't get detected and a promp "Raise the flash" (I already did) appears on the monitor.

Hi @Geronique what mode is the top mode dial set to M, Av, Tv, P, Auto/ Green Square, An Automated Mode i.e. Sports. Does the flash even try to fire at all. Is the built-in flash up all of the way. Has anything ever been mounted in the hot shoe before?

I usually set it on auto and yes, the flash is propped all the way. I've actually tried to switch the modes and it still wouldn't work. As for the hot shoe, I haven't attached anything to it ever since buying the cam

Geranium,

Here is a website on how to enable your flash on the T7 (2000D)

https://www.technowifi.com/how-to/how-to-enable-canon-t7-flash/

If you've gone through all the steps and various options, it may be that the camera has a short, and it's not making an electrical contact. A repair may be in order.

Make certain that your battery is fully charged.  Allow several seconds between shot attempts, which should be enough time for the  strobe circuit to recharge.
