1100D not working right

I have problems with my rebel 1100D. there is a black bar at the bottom of the LCD screen. This for some reason seems to be the root of all the problems nothing else is working right. it displays information on the bar. Now when it takes picture its straight out black. and right after focusing sometimes it goes black  I need help and need to know if there is a way to reset everything back to normal.

In the menu there is a Clear All Settings.  Do that.  You can also remove the battery from the camera for a while. Day or two. You must do this first.

Next you must decide if the battery and the charger are working correctly. If confirmed try it again.  Set it to the green square, lens of AF and go outside on a bright daylighted day and try a shot or two.  If these simple steps don't fix the problem, it needs service.
