a canon 70-200mm ultrasonic zoom lens does not lock on my camera. It's a canon EOS rebel T2i. It was a gift and I need to know what should I do.

Take a picture of it, or two, so that the gurus can see it.

Well in spite of this nomenclature misunderstanding, USM or whatever, any "EF" lens will fit your camera.  That is all the letters you need to know.  Before the others jump in again, I am not aware of any ef-S 70-200mil zoom.

EB
EOS 1DX and 1D Mk IV and less lenses then before!

But an EF should fit just fine.

To help clarify the type of lens, it should be written on the end of the lens circling the glass. It should read along the lines of "CANON EF 70-200 MM  4.0  STM / USM / etc."

The lens MUST read "EF" or "EF-S" in order to fit. An AF or EF-M will not fit.

If you don't have any problem with any other lenses fitting, you might want to check the end of the 70-200 lens for damage or debris.
