I’m currently in the market for a lens for birding and came across the Tamron SP AF200-500mm f5-6.3 Di for Canon as well as the Sigma 150-600mm f5-6.3 DG OS HSM which is a bit more expensive.
Will these be compatible with my EOS 500D?
Are there any drawbacks from using these lenses with my old DSLR?
What are some other options you would recommend?
I’m open to suggestions. Thank you

Any lens specified for EF mount will work on the 500D.

As mentioned they work but I will add they will work best in bright sunlight. Your 500D doesn’t have great high ISO capabilities so good lighting will be best.
