What's your first L lens?

So from when you got your first (D) SLR camera, when did you get your first L lense?

What was it and what did you have to sacrifice to get it?

24-105 F4. My husband got it for me to replace the kit lens with my 20D. It's still my favorite lens!

85 II was my first L, and still my favorite, even if the 200 f2 is really great.

After 2-3 years from my first DSLR, my first L was the 100-400.

The only sacrifice was my L-virginity.  And a dozen or so Benjamin Franklins.

I had my 70-200 f/4L lens after about 1 year.

Well.. long story short.. I started shooting with a Nikon! Once I felt the need that the entry level camera was not cutting it, and many other reasons I converted to Canon. I picked up 7D, because it had everything I wanted (so I thought then! HAHA)

I would say it took only a month before caving into a 70-200 f/2.8 IS lens. It is my main workhorse and wouldn't trade it for the world. Well, unless I were to scratch up enough money for the new version! 😉

My first L lens, and currently only at the moment, is the 24-70 MkII. Was probably 2 years between getting my first DSLR and this lens. It's an amazing lens.

Now I've also upgraded to a full frame camera and am again looking at something to marry to this range, probably a the 24-70 Mk II.

The original 16-35mm L with my 20D.

First DSLR Camera was in 2007

First "L" lens ... actually 4 lens all bought together (17-40 L / 24-105 L IS / 70-200 L IS II / 100-400 L IS) in 2010.

Did not have to make any "sacrifice" only had to save money for 3 years and some credit card installments, before I could buy those lenses ... but "sacriice" is too big a word to use for just some "L"uxury items.

About a year ago I sold the 17-40 and bought the 16-35 L II.
