That lens has the Sigma SA Mount from your description not the Canon EF Mount. Return the lens its not worth adapting it or much less trying to.

I really appreciate your quick response, I’ll go ahead and do that, thanks a bunch

"...  it was given to me a Sigma Apo lens 70-200 mm f2.8 II EX DG MACRO HSM SA,..."

What do you mean it was "given" to you? Did you buy the lens or was it a gift? Can it be returned?

"... its not worth adapting it or much less trying to."

This of course, again, is not true.   Returning may be your best choice but the mount can be changed or switched but it has to be done by Sigma. How much it costs I have no idea anymore, it used to be just  a nominal fee. So return is an option but replacing the mount is possible, too, at least on most if not all Sigma lenses. You need to contact Sigma and their “Mount Conversion Service”.

BTW, as I recall the Sigma Apo lens 70-200 mm f2.8 II EX DG MACRO HSM is a fairly expensive lens, $1500 bucks, and well worth checking into mount replacement if returning is not possible for the correct mount lens.

Mount replacement service is not performed on older EX lenses per Sigma. Only there newest lenses that support the dock can be done.

Please read more carefully. And that again is not true but a call to SIgma will tell exactly which lens, if not all, they can do the conversion on.

That is what a Sigma representative said when I tried to do a conversion on an older EX lens. They said it’s not possible on older EX lenses.
