RF 100-500MM Lens

Cantrell
Rising Star

All,

Two questions. Is the RF 100-500MM lens that was an available in 2022 the same as the RF 100-500MM lens available today? Looked at the difference in pricing between the RF 200-800MM lens and the RF 100-500MM. The RF 200-800MM lens is $800 less expensive that the RF 100-500MM lens. Why is the RF100-500MM lens more expensive than the RF200-800MM lens?

Thank you

Hi Cantrell,

There is nothing different between the lens released in 2020 and today, except for firmware.  There is only one revision of the RF 100-500.   The FW improved performance with IS on the R3.

Firmware Version 1.1.0 incorporates the following improvement:
1. Improves performance of the image stabilization when using the electronic shutter of the EOS R3 camera during still image shooting.

Its a top performing lens.  Is it worth the extra cash?  I think so, but that's ultimately up to you.

One reason is that it is not an "L" lens.

kvbarkley,

Did the RF100-500mm lens change from 2022 to 2025?

Thank you

Nothing major, or it would be relabeled, at least with a II.

kvbarkley,

Thank you for your respond.
