Old Canon 35-350 Zoom Focus ring is VERY tight

SO I bought this lens used off of EBAY and the focus ring is very tight AF works well,

Any videos out there for how to fix this? Or any other help?

This lens is too old to send in for repairs to Canon and there is no one local to fix it.

Thanks

Hello harpcat welcome to the forums. The focus ring should never be stiff or hard to turn. If it is I would recommend returning the lens. Is this the lens you have down below.

Yes, that's the lens that I have and I held on for it too long so I don't think I can return it now..

I read about special lens lubricants.

Do you know anything about that?

No I don't know anything about lens lubricants. I don't recommend using them because it could cause more problems. Does the lens function correctly aside from the focus ring being hard to turn. What camera do you shoot with.

Do you own any other lenses. I was going to say if you could return the lens. We could suggest an additional lens to make up for the missing focal lengths you need. If you already own other lenses ie 16-35mm, 24-70mm and 70-200mm.

1993 was a fine year.  thats 29 pushing 30. 🤔

Too bad you cannot return it.  That would be my vote also.  Don't use any spray or lubricants.  They will find their way in.

You can try midwestcamera dot com , it won't hurt to ask.

Doesn't mean it can't be serviced. Any full service shop like Midwest Camera can do service. Replacing parts is a whole other story, however.

If it was mine I would just use it as it if all was working. How often do you want or need MF?
