My Artisan lens isn’t working on my EOS M50

I bought an artisan 7 55 mm lens for my canon m50. It’s not allowing me to take pictures.

What specifically is happening? Camera won't turn on? Something else?

Note that it is a manual focus lens.

It wasn’t doing anything then I had to change the settings because basically my camera wasn’t detecting it had a lens on it. Now the shutter actually works but I’m getting an error message then have to restart or remove my battery. Err 30 is what pops up.

Error 30 means that the camera has detected a malfunction with the shutter. Does the camera work correctly with native EF-M lenses or adapted EF or EF-S lenses.

What other lenses are you using please list them. Are these fully manual lenses or are they 1st party Canon EF, EF-S or EF-M lenses.

It’s a canon 45 mm lens

Did you mean the Canon EF-M 15-45mm F/3.5-6.3 IS STM lens. Canon doesn't make an EF-M 45mm lens.

The camera should fire the shutter with the camera set to "shoot without lens". You may simply have an incompatibility with the lens and the camera.
