Looking for recommendations for a very sharp wide zoom or prime for up close Everglades photos

I’m using R5 MKii and am looking for a wide lens that is very sharp for hiking around and in the Florida Everglades without many often there is not much free space and lots of foliage, often convert photos to B&W. If possible, I’d like to be in the $1000.00 range. Experience is on the newbie side.
‘some say the Sigma Art lens is a good choice.
I will appreciate any help I can get. Thanks

This is a little over your budget, but from everything I've heard from people who own this lens, it's very sharp.  RF14-35mm F4 L IS USM
You might be able to find this refurbished at a lower price.  Keep checking the Canon web site... refurb gear sells fast!

The Sigma Art lenses are very nice as well.

I, too, would prefer you buy an RF Series lens. If I were going off brand I would buy one of Tamron's G2 Series lenses. Example the Tamron SP 24-70mm f/2.8 Di VC USD G2 Lens. Although the Sigma Art Series is quite good.

It is always best to stick with Canon brand if you can but sometimes you just can't. I know price point is extremely important and Canon lenses are expensive but there is a reason why they are. However, the lens you have is always better than the lens you wish you had.
