I am new to mirrorless canon (had a G15 before) and is struggling to figure out what's wrong with a used R10 (pretty perfect condition to be fair). It wouldn't take photos or videos at all. I tried video mode, auto mode any mode and the shutter won't activate or it wouldn't record. The autofocus isn't working either with the F00 showing, which apparently means the lens is not detected properly. I already inspected all of the pin connectors and everything seems fine https://routerlogin.uno/ .
I have the 1) K&F Concept Auto-Focus Mount adapter. EF To EOS R Mount and 2) Sigma DC 18-35mm f/1.8 HSM Lens attached to it as well, all bought used. What could be the problem? I am trying to figure out which is the faulty part or if I am doing something really stupid with it. I even tried to test the camera without the lens but it wouldn't do anything at all but I thought the R10 doesn't fire up unless there's a functioning lens on it?
I am thinking of also getting a sigma usb dock to update the firmware in case that's the problem. The closest camera shop is 10miles away away so it would be amazing to get a second opinion before the next step. Any help would be very appreciated!!

Greetings,
Whenever you buy a used product, we recommend performing a full reset of the camera's main and (if applicable) custom settings.
The adapter you're using may not be the best choice. The error message you are receiving indicates the lens is not communicating with the body. This could be as simple as enabling release shutter without lens attached option under the custom functions menu.C.Fn4.
Please visit the link below. This is the support portal for your camera. Please download the manual for your camera and read it.
You don't need to buy a sigma USB dock yet. If you plan to invest in more Sigma glass, then it might be a good idea to purchase. I think right now it would be best that you review your cameras manual to become familiar with its features and operation.
For best results, we recommend the Canon EF to EOS R adapter. It's not that other adapters can't work, but some have proven to be highly unreliable. Communication errors being at the forefront. The sigma 18-35 has AF and if properly adapted should communicate with your body. Again, the adapter you are using may not be the best choice.
Please ensure you are using full size memory cards with your camera. MicroSD cards with adapters should not be used.
I'm sure you'll have some more questions once you've spent some time with the camera and manual. We're happy to provide guidance and we're all here to help 😀

It is unlikely the Sigma lens. It is a bit more likely it is the R10 and a whole lot more likely it is the off-brand adapter. Replace it first. That is after you do the full reset as mentioned above.
Also check the battery and charger as it could just be a faulty battery. When those suggestion don't work call Canon 1 (800) 652-2666

toshii,
You wrote, "The closest camera shop is 10miles away away so it would be amazing to get a second opinion before the next step."
I think the first step you should take is to take your camera to the camera shop you mentioned and ask if you could test an RF lens on it. You said that your camera won't take photos or video. Maybe it's the adapter or maybe there's something wrong with your camera. Let's find out first.
