Since you are just starting out stick with your Rebel until you find it restricting your creativity, as for lens's what do you currently own? You may very well have what you need to get started without spending any money on camera gear.
Now that aside are your plans to do in studio work, on location, at venues or out in the wild? All of those various locations will have an effect on determining the lens's that you may want to have on hand.
In closing do not hesitate to ask questions, there is no such thing as a dumb question.

Sort of, I would suggest you try to come up with some ideas of how you would alike the shots to come out, see if you can find a friend you can work with and try out some locations, indoors and outdoors to get an idea of what locations you like photographing your friend at.
And a trip to a local library to check out any books you can get your hands to provide some guidance on basic portrait photography.
You are going to make mistakes we all did when starting out so get that worked out before the larger step of doing paid work, you will also want to learn the aspects of running your business.
Just don't try doing it all at once take it one step at a time and have fun while you learn the ropes.
And always remember learn from your mistakes do not let them discourage you and welcome criticism both good and bad.

Sounds like you have a good starting point.

I would say you have all you need for now, hold off buying anything else until you find you abilities restricted by your current gear.
And I also always recommend if you need a lens for a certain setup consider renting versus owning, as a business a rental is a write-off.

WCETECH has asked valid questions to get us started. BTW, good luck.
