Hi,
I shot the same thing: first with my UV filter and second without the filter. While I personally cannot tell the difference in sharpness, I can see a change in light, glare, reflection, or something. Does anyone believe UV filters can make images a little bit more soft/blurry?
Canon R1 and the RF 70-200mm lens. Filter is Nisi L395 SMC. Also did not have the lens hood on.
Honestly, it might be a bit sharper without.
With the UV filter.
Without the filter.
Thanks.

A clear or UV filter won't affect exposure. Ask the pro what the basis is for saying that.
You can test this yourself. Does the camera change aperture, shutter speed or ISO with and without the filter?

The B+W MRC MASTER 007 Clear Filter is a good choice. It is very high quality not overly expensive and it is thin. Another factor is you don't want a filter that is thick and sticks out too far from the front of the lens.

Thanks....swapping out some older lenses and getting new RF ones. Some of my old filters have had a better day. Never tried the B+W, but have heard a lot. I think they deserve a try now.

I have lenses that their front element has never seen the light of day as a B+W protecto filter went on right from the box and has never come off.

Exactly...these will go on ASAP. Been doing that forever. Piece of mind for sure. Ordered some and will be here tomorrow.
