I have been using a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM on my Canon M50 Mark II for quite some time with no issues. The other day I was shooting with it and when I turned the camera on I received a notification for Update Lens Firmware - “memory card containing firmware is required to update.” The problem is I can’t find ANY firmware update for that lens. I did subsequently update the camera’s firmware but still received the lense error. All other lenses work fine.

I am too experiencing the same issue with the same lens.
I have tried 2 different cameras T4i and SL3 and both are giving me the same error as previously posted in thread.
Any updates?
