Best way to store lenses, off and on camera?

How should I store my lenses? Rear cap up or down or sideways? When on camera is on its side fine or should rear of the lens be up?

Doesn't matter. However, I use my gear almost daily.  I simply leave them in my camera bag. But for long term storages I would advise using the original Canon box and packaging.
