Hello everyone,,,
I'm visiting Japan in two months and I'm specifically looking to buy a Sony Distagon FE 35mm f/1.4. Would it be cheaper to buy it in Japan? I'm trying to find it used to save some money, but I've googled this and checked the BIC camera website with no luck. Just looking for some general advice, thank you..

In a word, no, they are not. My single experience with such an issue is when my son was on a musical tour of Japan for the University of Kansas in Japan. I asked him to check out the cameras and lenses while he was there. No great deals that I could see.
My father did buy two Nikon F cameras when he was stationed in Japan in the 1950's and said they were good buys.

As a further thought, you can buy and see prices on ebay with offering of lenses from Japan. As a matter of fact that was a topic recently on this forum.
Besides you need to consider exchange rates, taxes and customs which may affect the final price. Not just the selling price alone as a guage..
