I have a 28-135 mm 3.5-5.6 IS lens that will not open to f3.5 at the wide angle end (or any other end) I have tried to clean the contacts with no joy. My other lenses operate fine. Any suggestions or does it need to be repaired by Canon. Thank you.

I had that happen with a 28-135, too. It's going to go to Canon for repair. I would guess it's a loose wire or broken "flex" cable. If it's too expensive, Ill just replace it with a used one. They are pretty easy to find in nice condition for under $250.
