16-35mm f2.8 or f4 availability

Hi,

Have these lenses been discontinued? Looks like B & H only sells used ones.

Please advise.

Thanks.

Greetings ,

Both lenses are still available directly from Canon.

I owned the 16-35 f2.8 Mark II.  It's a top performer.  Constant aperture.  Great for video, landscapes and architecture.  Some have even used it for astrophotography successfully.

The F4 is equally as sharp.  It just doesn't have the same low light capability.

There's nothing wrong buying used copies as long as it's from a reputable dealer with warranty.

Thanks for the links.

Do you think it's weird that B & H only has used ones now? I'm curious what happened there.

I have a 16-35 2.8 III. Super nice lens indeed. Strongly recommend. Cheers.

I consider the 16-35mm f2.8L part of the standard inventory of must have lenses. The 16-35mm f2.8L, the 24-70mm f2.8L and the 70-200mm f2.8L. The trinity of lenses if you will. If you are a working pro like I was you will use these three lenses more than any others.

Ebiggs1, I totally agree with you. In addition to these 3, I have a 4th one that I don't always carry with me, but when I do--and I use it--I am super happy to own it: the 100-400 4-5.6L. Cheers.

I, too, had the ef 100-400mm because of persnickety priests that didn't like photographers during the wedding mass. I could stay way out of his sight and still do my job with it. A lot of the time priests and even some preachers forget the wedding is for the bride and it is not about them.

Hi,

Thank you.

I have the 16-35mm 2.8 II, and love it.
I wanted to get a new one and that's when I noticed it not being on B & H...
