uneven printing

Began today, PIXMA mx882 began graying out certain lines of text. Doesn't appear to have any rhyme or reason.  Also the grayed letters have what appears to be a dash in the middle.  The small black ink cartridge was low, so I replaced it, but that didn't fix the problem
