scanner produces distorted, skewed images

I have a D1250U2F which has worked superbly for many years. Recently, it has begun to produce images which are skewed and distorted. In other words, it will not produce a straight vertical line. Is this fixable?

Hmmm... no suggestions... Perhaps I wasn't too clear in my description of the problem. Here is a scan of a Canon Matte Photo Paper box as an example. I just want to know if this scanner is hopeless or not.

Hello tobor8man.

Uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers may help resolve this issue.

First, download the 'DelDrv' file from our website to remove the drivers.  Then download and install the TWAIN driver and CanoScan Toolbox.

The downloads are available at the following link:

Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately, it didn't work. If anything, after deleting/installing the drivers per your instructyions, the images are more skewed and distorted than ever.

I'm still convinced that it is a hardware problem. I suspect that what may be occuring is what often happens to devices whose proper functioning depends on precise mechanical movement. Over time, (particularly if the device is infrequently used), lubricants dry up, belts stretch and crack or become glazed. This hampers precise movement and hence the device does not work correctly.  This has happened to me with old VCRs, camcorders, film cameras, etc.

I don't remember exactly when I got my scanner but it must be at least 10 years old and it doen't get used much.
