printer is not printing data but is spitting out blank pages

I am using a Pixma MX922.  I have rebooted my entire system, downloaded the most recent driver and the test page will print ok with all the correct colors.  However, if I try to print out an excel sheet, it sounds like it is going to print, but spits out a blank piece of paper.  Any suggestions?
