mx892 printer software problem

I have installed the canon pixma 892 ws into new laptop running windows 8.1 . Cannot loat the software. I keep getting the error message "another computer is using this printer.." my only other computer is off. Would appreciate ideas.

Also when I print something the message "must turn on bi-directional printing", but then it prints the document.

Hello.

If the printer is not being used by a different computer, the message that you have described may mean that there is an error or warning on the LCD display of the printer.

Please check the LCD display and tell us of any errors that are shown. 

Once we have this issue resolved we will try to troubleshot the bi-directional error.
