I have an ip 2702 PRINTER THAT I FAILED TO ORDER THE xl CARTRIDGES FOR. iNSTALLED THEM AND THEY WERE PRINTING OK UNTIL I GOT THE "RUNNING LOW ON INK" MESSAGE AGAIN. WHEN I REMOVE THEM AND SHAKE THEM, THERE APPEARS TO BE LOTS OF INK INSIDE THEM STILL. WILL THEY RUN OUT OF INK AND LEAVE ME HANGING SOON OR CAN I JUST KEEP USING THEM FOR A WHILE. THEY USUALLY LAST ME SEVERAL MONTHS.

Hi mjgratz.
The inks have two "low ink" indications. The yellow indicator appears when the ink is recognized at ~ 1/2 capacity or less (for a standard ink tank). The red indicator indicates a critical amount of ink remaining, and that it urgently needs to be replaced. If you're on the yellow error for an ink, you may continue printing, though how quickly it runs out will depend on the volume and color of what you're printing.
When the ink reports as empty with a red indicator, you may still see some ink remaining in the ink tank. This extra margin is included so that air doesn't get into the ink feed and printing system, as that would significantly lower the operational life of the print head and printer.
