error code 1250 on Pixma TR 8520

Just bought a Pixma TR 8520 and in setting it up kept getting an error code 1250 paper output tray not extended despite me extending multiple times.  I can't print anything from either paper tray without triggering this error code and I can't figure out a way to make it go away.  Anyone have any suggestions?
