cant reset printer from last job malfunction

i was in the process of printing out my resume and somehow the paper got sucked in sideways but didnt tear or leave pieces behind.  i tried hitting both the color and black buttons and nothing happens. ive made sure theres no leftover pieces of paper in the feeder, or where the ink is stored at. im in kind of a stuck situation. does anyone have any advice on how to get my printer to get to working again????
