Printer Ink

I have a Canon Pixma MX452 all in one printer. The printer come with PG240 & PG 241 ink cartridges. can this unit use the "XL" cartridges ? Also, after changing the ink carteidges the 1st time, the printer does not notice the black cartridge. Is this common ? or is it something that has to be adjusted on the printer ?

From Canon website:

I have a MX432 (similar model) I never had that issue when changing ink. Not sure what to say other than 1. make sure you removed the tape and 2. remove and reseat cartridge.

had problem on my canon mx432  it's quite  embarrasing our country Philippines don't have available cartridge..

i only used 3 months after refilling the cartridges for about 10x after all didn't work anymore so sad.... since this unit not yet available in our country so then the cartridges too.
