This is the message I get. Support Code : 300 The printer does not respond. Make sure that the printer is plugged in, powered-on, and properly connected to your computer.

Hi, donnadap57!
So that the Community can help you better, we will need to know the version of Mac in use (ex. 10.6, 10.7, 10.8, etc). This can be found by clicking the Apple sign in the top-left corner and choosing 'About this Mac.'
If this is a time-sensitive matter, our US-based technical support team is standing by, ready to help at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666) weekdays between 10 AM and 10 PM ET (7 AM to 7 PM PT).
Thanks and have a great day!

Hello donnadap57,
Try deleting then re-adding the printer driver. After confirming that the cable is connected and the printer is powered on, perform the following:
1. In the Apple menu, open System Preferences.
2. Open Print and Scan.
3. To add the printer, click the Plus (+) sign.
4. Select the printer to add, then click 'Add'.
5. The printer is added.
After the printer driver has been re-added, see if you are able to print.
